I used to move around the country a lot and I hated working for other people. On the east-coast there is considerable poverty, and one of the ways that the government tries to induce some sort of economic prosperity is to invite in the call centre industry. Call centres rarely follow through on references, criminal record checks, or past employers/education so getting in the door is simple.
Jump from call centre to call centre and stay a few weeks for the free drinks and games (training) and then move on to something else. The call centre doesn't care because they get as little as $3000 per person that they hire from the government as an incentive. Nobody cares that you are there just for the training -- I never once lied about it.
